I don’t remember seeing many fields of rapeseed when I was growing up, but these days I’m constantly and pleasantly surprised by the bright yellow landscapes that appear across the English countryside each spring. There’s something quite striking about the way the vivid colour transforms the rolling fields and hedgerows.
I captured this particular rapeseed field while visiting friends in Shropshire. Before taking any photographs, I asked the farmer for permission to wander into the field with my camera, and thankfully he was more than happy to oblige. This image is one of the photographs from that visit — a little snapshot of the English countryside at its most vibrant.
